Wall Mount Ada Ramp Railing

A handrail is required on stairs with two or more risers and ada ramps with a rise of 6 inches. A lower railing is shown parallel to the ramp mounted no higher than 27 inches 685 mm above the ramp. The mid and bottom railing work to prevent a wheelchair from slipping out from under the railing when going up or down the ramp. The railing starts at the base of the ramp and terminates into the brick wall at the top.

Not only are fitting based handicap railings easy to install they are also corrosion resistant. This railing is perfect for interior or exterior applications where clients require an ada compliant handrail system. Ramp handrails shall extend horizontally above the landing for 12 inches 305 mm minimum beyond the top and bottom of ramp runs. The i codes define handrail as being in place to provide guidance.

Fitting based railings can last up to 7 times longer than standard welded handicap railings. The second ramp second from top labeled wall shows a railing mounted on a solid wall. Handrails are not required on walking surfaces with running slopes less than 1 20. The handrails on both sides have horizontal projections as above.

Extensions shall return to a wall guard or the landing surface or shall be continuous to the handrail of an adjacent ramp run.
